Introducing our Spaycialists. Meet Matthieu, Data Analyst

This segment welcomes our new joiners with 3 questions. It gives you the opportunity to discover where they're from and what they strive for. After meeting Michela last week, we ran another interview with Matthieu, our new Data Analyst. Here's his story.

Where are you from? What do you remember from your childhood years that would define you today?

I was born in Eure-et-Loir, and I grew up in Seine-et-Marne. I moved to Troyes for my studies and I ended up in Paris at Inseec, a business school. From my childhood I remember video games, especially MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing games) which helped me understand that a good communication and getting others to buy in into your vision allows you to go very far. Also sports, mainly judo and rugby, taught me to surpass myself and be a team player.

Tell us about your job? What is a Data Analyst? Are there any specific skills for this job?

It's a job at the crossroads between different spheres. This allows me to be very operational and at the same time strategic in the way I present data. When you think about it, data analysis is the art of analyzing and modeling data! This demands an appetite for technology, a knowledge of how data is generated and how to make its flow qualitative and continuous. It also requires an understanding of the context of the data to make it speak in the best way. A sense of detail, patience and mastery of the tools at your disposal are obviously assets.

What do you like in your work and how Spaycial helps you accomplish it?

IWhat I like about data is that it doesn't have an opinion or a mood, it is what it is. I've always been very curious about how things work and I think that's what drives me, after being a financial controller, to continue my quest to know what works, where and when. Spaycial and its very agile size and functioning is the best place to help me perfecting my skills and embrace this path.
